At the request of our client, the Abdülhamid Han was designated for operations in the Black Sea, requiring passage through the Çanakkale and Istanbul Straits. Due to its height, modifications were necessary to meet transit requirements.

To achieve the required air draft, the vessel’s derrick was dismantled at Socar Port in Aliağa and later reinstalled at Filyos using the Mammoet Ring Crane PT35. The derrick sections were transported via the Alkor barge, towed by the oceangoing tug Gemi Kurtaran.

This complex operation, carried out from April to November, involved over 50 specialists from multiple organizations, including GOE. The successful completion of the project ensured the drill ship’s readiness for its mission in the Black Sea.
