  • Assign unique and logical identification tags (e.g., PT-101, FV-203A) to all field instruments, control valves, analyzers, electrical components, and junction boxes.
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy of the tagging system across all engineering disciplines and documentation.
  • Ensure all tags are correctly reflected in key project documents, including:
  • Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Loop Diagrams
  • Instrument Index
  • Input/Output (I/O) Lists
  • Cause & Effect Diagrams
  • Wiring and Termination Diagrams
  • Liaise with the Lead Instrument, Electrical, and Process engineers to resolve any tagging conflicts or issues.
  • Utilize and manage engineering database software (e.g., SPI (Intools), AVEVA Instrumentation, or similar) as the single source of truth for all instrument data and tags.
  • Conduct regular checks to verify that tags on physical equipment in the shipyard match the tags in the master database and documentation.
  • Support the pre-commissioning and commissioning teams by providing accurate tagging information, helping to resolve discrepancies found during loop checks and functional tests.
