Job description
- Develop, manage, and maintain the master tag numbering index (or “tag register”) for the entire FPU project, in accordance with company and international standards (e.g., ISA-5.1, ISO/IEC 81346).
- Assign unique and logical identification tags (e.g., PT-101, FV-203A) to all field instruments, control valves, analyzers, electrical components, and junction boxes.
- Ensure consistency and accuracy of the tagging system across all engineering disciplines and documentation.
- Ensure all tags are correctly reflected in key project documents, including:
- Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
- Loop Diagrams
- Instrument Index
- Input/Output (I/O) Lists
- Cause & Effect Diagrams
- Wiring and Termination Diagrams
- Liaise with the Lead Instrument, Electrical, and Process engineers to resolve any tagging conflicts or issues.
- Utilize and manage engineering database software (e.g., SPI (Intools), AVEVA Instrumentation, or similar) as the single source of truth for all instrument data and tags.
- Conduct regular checks to verify that tags on physical equipment in the shipyard match the tags in the master database and documentation.
- Support the pre-commissioning and commissioning teams by providing accurate tagging information, helping to resolve discrepancies found during loop checks and functional tests.
- Manage the process of handling tag changes and modifications, ensuring proper change control and documentation updates.
